Routine dehydration, coupled with high protein / low carbohydrate diets set up the optimal environment for the creation of kidney stones, although depending on the exact type of stones present, there are a number of other dietary factors which could be contributing such as sodium, calcium and high oxalate foods. In addition to drinking tea and coffww more than water a day ( as duretics ), it will result salts precipetations as stones.
The kidneys are one of the most important organs in the human body. They help to detox and filter blood off any toxic or precipitated items, as well as waste products from urine. But in case of dehydration or less water passes to clean the waste of the urine, kidneys will not be able to process salts and urine wastes efficiently, so stones will be formed. Specifically, the minerals build up in the kidney, passes to urethra, yield painful stones and possible blockage of urine flow!
Most of the successful treatment procedures, are related to enough drinking clean water in a healthy life style for the patients, in addition of the herbs to dissolve them out.
That’s can be as the following, starting with:
- Honey
One big spoon of white honey dissolved in a glass of water. This taken early morning on an empty stomach, one hour before breakfast. It’ll wash out all the impurities and act as diuretic. Also, it will strengthen the liver against any salts toxicity!
- Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, and Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
This is one of my favorites and easily one of the most effective remedies for kidney stones and the pain they cause. At the first symptom of stone pain, mix 30 ml of original olive oil with a juice of half lemon. Drink it straight and follow with a mug of warm water. Wait 30 minutes, then squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon into another mug of warm water, add 1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar and drink. Repeat every day, one hour before lunch, till the stones excreted.
- Kidney Beans
Kidney Beans for Kidney Stones. Traditionally the pods were used as a medicinal tonic. Try removing the beans from inside the pods, and then boil the pods in purified hot water for six hours. This liquid can be strained through cheese cloth, cooled and taken throughout the day for one day to ease kidney stone pain.
- Horsetail
Horsetail tea is an effective natural remedy for kidney stones. Drink up to 3-4 cups of horsetail tea daily or 2 grams of the herb in capsule form daily.
- Pomegranate Juice
We’ve all heard that pomegranates have many health benefits. But, more specifically, the seeds and juice of pomegranates can be considered another natural remedy for kidney stones. This may be related to their sourness and astringent properties. I prefer eating organic pomegranates and drinking freshly-squeezed pomegranate juice.
- Magnesium
Studies show that people with recurrent kidney stones who took magnesium supplements had a 92.3 percent improvement rate in reduction of kidney stones. 300 mg of magnesium is recommended daily for prevention and reduction of stones.
- Celery
Celery for Kidney Stones. Celery in vegetable form and celery seed are great urine-promoters and kidney tonics. Regular use of celery seed, as a spice or as a tea, may prevent kidney stone formation.
- Change in Diet
Unhealthy food and less water intake are the main reasons of kidney stones formation. Cut down on the amount of soda and energy drinks you consume. Avoid processed foods and alcoholic beverages. Add more fruits and veggies to your diet, especially those listed above.
Passing a kidney stone may only require heavy hydration and pain and spasmolytic medication, though in other cases (big stones > 1mm ), surgery may be needed. But either way, the process is going to be painful.
