Enlarged Prostate is associated with age-related changes in steroid sex hormones. After age 40, testosterone declines, and a testosterone variant called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and the female-associated hormone estrogen increase. DHT stimulates cell growth and, in turn, prostate enlarged.
The symptoms of prostate enlargement are bothering somehow but it can be controlled. Herbal medicines are effective in reducing the size of the prostate and in helping to alleviate the symptoms (weak flow of urine, pain, burning sensation when urinating, problems achieving or maintaining an erection, the presence of blood in the urine or semen and sometimes pain in the lower back and / or the upper thigh or hips).
The following principles are recommended with little change in the daily style and diet for reaching healthy prostate life.
- Early morning: 1 glass of warm water + 1 glass of lemonade (1/2 lemon + 1/3 tsp turmeric).
- Take early breakfast, lunch and early dinner
- Walk 30-45 min daily.
- When wake up in morning sit a minute before going to washroom
- Drink 8-10 glasses of liquid before 7pm
- 30 ml of olive oil (with or without 2 gloves of garlic) before sleeping
- Increase fresh fish intake, which is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel, and trout are the best. DO NOT USE FLAX SEEDS!
- Increase fresh colorful fruits and berries, leafy greens and vegetable consumption daily. Nuts and seeds contain the needed amino acids for healthy prostate.
- Increase natural vitamin C consumption, including citrus, berries, spinach, cantaloupe, sweet peppers, and mango.
- Drink extracts of herbs like saw palmetto, nettle and green tea several times a day.
- Tomatoes and tomato products are very high in lycopene, a powerful anticancer substance. This includes pizza sauce, tomato paste, and ketchup.
- It is reasonable to take Selenium which can be found in Brazil nuts, fresh fish, grains, mushrooms, wheat germ, bran, whole-wheat bread, oats, and brown rice.
- Zinc is very beneficial for prostate health. 30-60 mg daily can be tried with Saw palmetto.
During the natural treatment we found that our wrong diet and lifestyle-habit is the main cause of any disease. That’s why it’s very important for a healthy prostate and comfortable sex:
- To reduce animal fat in the diet, primarily red meat and high-fat dairy.
- To avoid Trans fats. These are high in margarines, previously fried and baked foods.
- To avoid excess preserved, pickled, or salted foods.
- To avoid high-calcium diets (milk products, canned and processed food)
- To stop caffeine-containing liquids (tea, coffee, colas).
- To get up and urinate as soon as the first night-time urge.
- To soak in a warm bath or hot tub for 20 minutes per day. The heat of the water will penetrate the prostate to reduce swelling and promote healing. Avoid prolonged sitting because a man sits on his prostate.
- To intercourse frequently. Ejaculation will remove prostatic fluid and shrink the prostate.
- To avoid antihistamines and other over-the-counter decongestants and cold remedies.
